Foundation repair help in Helotes

Soil & homes in Helotes

Helotes homes range from Hill Country limestone lots to clay-heavy areas near the creeks. Larger lots with mature live oaks can see roots pull moisture from soil under the slab.

What to watch for

Look for stair-step cracks in stone or brick, separation at chimneys, and pier-and-beam floors that bounce or sag.

Before you hire

• Get at least two written estimates
• Ask what the warranty covers and if it transfers when you sell
• Ask whether an engineer's report or permit is needed
• Consider a plumbing leak test if the cause is unclear
